After my exciting excursion to India, I decided to head to Paris, France.
This time, I remembered to double check my time zones and was able to land under cover of darkness without anyone noticing me. After a brief nap (flying can be exhausting), I started exploring the French countryside, where I happened upon a lovely picnic spread - but no one was in sight! I thought it would be a shame for all that food to go to waste (and flying burns a lot of calories), so I decided I would do the noble thing, sit down, and enjoy some pastries and wine.
About five minutes later, midway through a bite of croissant, I heard the most angelic voice asking me in a polite but confused tone who I was and why I was eating her picnic. I turned to see the most radiant, sophisticated Papilon I had ever laid eyes on. I introduced myself and apologized profusely. I explained to her that I had thought the food had been abandoned, and it hurts my heart as the defender of worlds to see such waste. So, I decided to step in.
She was very kind and understanding. She said her name is Amelie, and she was there because she was supposed to be meeting a friend. When they didn't show, she starting searching around the park to see if they'd gone to the wrong place, but to no avail. Then, to my surprise and delight, she invited me to share the picnic with her, as it would be a shame for things to go to waste, after all. We had a delightful time talking about our travels and enjoying delicious food and wine. When we finished eating, she gave me the most amazing tour of Paris, finishing up with a visit to the Eiffel Tower.
We then bid each other adieu, although I do hope our paths cross again. And, if you're reading this, thank you, Amelie, for making my visit to Paris so delightful.
